Hunter’s Cabin is a celebration of quirky, camp-like charm. While it was always full of character, the original structure from the 1990s was short on space and natural light. Therefore, the Prospect Studio team redesigned much of its footprint to maximize use and comfort. They started in the garage, converting it into a laundry room, upstairs playhouse, and functional living space.
The kitchen was similarly reconfigured and fully renovated, and the master bedroom benefitted from the installation of a floating closet to make the space feel larger. The team also closed in the old porch to allow for a new entry way, while the front deck was extended down to the creek to deepen the house’s connection to nature. In the back, an added patio creates ample opportunities for fluid indoor-outdoor entertaining. Now, the Cabin embodies all the fun of a nostalgic camp experience without compromising on any of the creature comforts.
"A building will show you where the challenges and opportunities are, but you have to be humble enough to follow those guidelines."
—Danny Wicke, Architect
