At Owl Ditch, the owners wanted to build a mountain retreat for their family that was “included in nature. ”So they lived on the land, a wooded, 10-acre stretch on the Snake River, in another structure for five years while creating their high-country home. That time allowed both the family and the design team to get to know the site more intimately, which informed the compound’s final layout. The resulting modern take on a mountain lodge is a great fit for the dynamic family, whose four sons and friends use it as a basecamp for enjoying the surrounding natural playground.
"Principle in charge John Carney, FAIA, and his colleagues constantly work the possibilities of the region’s design vocabulary exploring the continuum between traditional and modern."
